Telecom Policy, Regulation, and Management as Drivers for Transforming Emerging Economies

The Regional ITS India Conference 2012 will be held in New Delhi, India during February 22-24, 2012. It is the first time that the conference is being held in India.

The conference is jointly organized by IIMA IDEA Telecom Center of Excellence (IITCOE) one of the seven Telecom Centers of Excellence that has been set up in public-private partnership mode at the national level.

The explosive growth in the telecom sector, especially in the Emerging Economies, coupled with rapid innovations is throwing up not merely technological but a whole lot of management, regulatory and socio economic challenges.

Indian telecom sector is one of the world's fastest growing telecom sectors. It boasts of 850 million telephone subscribers as on March 31, 2011. It is a major driver for India's high economic growth. The competitive dynamic scenario in the market is interesting for researchers, scholars, and practitioners. It is also a microcosm of the other emerging economies. This is one of the reasons why the ITS Asia-Pacific Regional Conference 2012 is being held in India.

The Journal of Telecommunications Policy will consider to publish papers presented at the conference in a special issue, following a double blind review in the standard scientific journal procedure, under the leadership of one or several Guest Editors from the Program Committee.
